DRUM + DANCE:  SUMMER SERIES
Co-Facilitated by: Terri Segal & Elisha MacMillan

We will drum, dance, share and express

*Opportunity for dancers to drum and drummers to dance!
*Experience the inherent connection between drumming and dancing
*Deepen your rhythmic understanding

Open to all levels of drum and dance experience.

Drum:

*Develop basic hand drumming (Djembe and Dundun) techniques                       
*Learn West African rhythms, Global Grooves and accompaniment parts on  World Percussion; claves, bells & shakers – infused with your own creativity and unique ‘voice’.

Dance:

*Experience new freedoms of expression through movement
*Evolve your understanding of rhythmic expression through movement and body percussion
*Learn dances from Guinea, West Africa, including dancing with Dundun drums

Mondays June 21, - July 12

Time: 7pm – 8:30pm

Cost: $194 incl. gst

Location: Bavia Arts Studio, 898b St. Clair Ave. W-2nd floor (two blocks east of  Oakwood)

Join us for a wonderful day immersed in the natural beauty of Sutton West, Ontario, the home of Shaw Percussion

Sunday July 18th, 10am – 4pm

Cost : all prices include tax
- before July 1st:  $128.00
 -after July 1st:        $133.00

Cost for Summer Series workshop participants:
-before July 1st:  $102.50
-after July 1st:     $106.50

Elisha MacMillan believes in the powerful healing qualities of African drum and dance, in forming community and allowing joy to flourish within ourselves.  She draws heavily from life experience and through the study of dance in Guinea, Mali and Ethiopia.
